Privacy Policy

Great news! I don’t actually hold any personal data about anyone that visits my site. Which means there is nothing to actually keep private.

It is worth noting that if you leave a comment on any of my blog posts, your name is stored and displayed on the comment. Your email address is taken purely for confirmation that you’re real, as soon as the spam filter makes it’s decision, your email address is removed (this is pretty instant). So hurah! No need for a privacy policy.

Cookie Policy

My website does use a handful of cookies. So there’s still some boring information that I need to display. To keep it really brief: There are 4 cookies in use on my site. 3 of them are for Google Analytics (so I can track how many people visit my site, what pages they go on etc), the 4th one tracks if you’ve seen the bookie banner that appears when you first visit the site, and stops it appearing again if you’ve agreed. But to keep legal, there are more details below.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their website work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Dan Anderton) are called “first party cookies”. Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called “third party cookies”. Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g. like advertising, interactive content and analytics). The parties that set these third party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other website.

Why do we use cookies?

We use first and third party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for my Website to operate, and we refer to these as “essential” or “strictly necessary” cookies. Other cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our Online Properties. Third parties serve cookies through our Website for advertising, analytics and other purposes. This is described in more detail below.

The specific types of first and third party cookies served through my Website and the purposes they perform are described below (please note that the specific cookies served may vary depending on the specific Online Properties you visit):

How can I control cookies?

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies. You can exercise your cookie rights by setting your preferences in the Cookie Consent Manager. The Cookie Consent Manager allows you to select which categories of cookies you accept or reject. Essential cookies cannot be rejected as they are strictly necessary to provide you with services.

The Cookie Consent Manager can be found in the notification banner and on our website. If you choose to reject cookies, you may still use my website though your access to some functionality and areas of my website may be restricted. You may also set or amend your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies. As the means by which you can refuse cookies through your web browser controls vary from browser-to-browser, you should visit your browser’s help menu for more information.

In addition, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising. If you would like to find out more information, please visit http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or http://www.youronlinechoices.com.

Here are the specific cookies I use:

Analytics and customization cookies:

These cookies collect information that is used either in aggregate form to help us understand how my Website are being used or how effective my marketing campaigns are, or to help us customize my Website for you.
